What is LockDown Browser?

LockDown Browser is a custom browser that prevents digital cheating during an online exam.

System Requirements

  1. Windows: 10, 8, 7
  2. Mac: MacOS 10.12 or higher
  3. iOS: 11.0+ (iPad only), only if allowed by your instructor. More information can be found at Using an iPad to take a LockDown Browser Exam (student)
Lockdown Browser is not compatible with Chromebooks. The college does provide an alternative socially-distanced LockDown Browser testing area in one of our computer labs in the V-Building on the Sanford/Lake Mary campus. Knowledge Base

Seminole State College Students looking to download the Respondus Lockdown browser for use with Seminole State College tests in Canvas can do so at the following link:

To download Respondus LockDown Browser from your Canvas course.


Go to your Canvas course and click the link to the quiz


Click Take the Quiz


Click [Download Respondus LockDown Browser] and install LockDown Browser.

Take your quiz with Lockdown Browser, not your default browser


To take the quiz,
  1. Close your current browser (eg.Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari)
  2. Open LockDown Browser.
  3. Sign in to Canvas and go to the quiz.
