Recording a PowerPoint presentation

Create or open a PowerPoint presentation

Please note: PowerPoint lets you read from an onscreen script during recording. If you want to read from an on-screen script, then add your script to the notes section of each slide.

Record your presentation


Click the  Recording  tab [1].
If you do not have the Recording tab you may either:
  1. Add the Recording Tab to PowerPoint, see PowerPoint | Adding the Recording Tab
  2. Or use the Slideshow tab and select, Record from... , see Record a slide show with narration and slide timings
Click  Record Slide Show  [2]. If you click the menu triangle, then you can choose to Record from the beginning or Record from the current slide. Record from the current slide allows you to resume recording at any point if you need to record your presentation in chunks.

The PowerPoint Recording screen

Your screen may look slightly different depending on the resolution of your monitor. For instance, the Notes section may appear on the right-hand side of your screen.

Click
  • Settings  [1] to select your microphone (required) and camera (optional).
  • Notes  [2] to display your notes over your presentation. Your notes will not be visible on the recording. You can increase or decrease the size of your notes by press the size buttons [3].
  • an  ink color  [4] to write over your PowerPoint presentations (optional.)
  • the round  Record button  [5a] to begin your recording on the current (displayed) slide.
  • the navigation arrow [6] to move forward in your presentation.
  • the square  Stop  button [5b] to stop your recording.
  • the triangular  Replay  button [5c] to review your recording.
  • the  Clear  button [7] to clear the recording on the slide or on all slides. This cannot be undone.
  • the  Close  button (x) [8] to close the recording window, and to go back to your PowerPoint presentation.

Next, you will need to export your PowerPoint presentation as a video.
