Downloading a Panopto video as an MP4 file

Faculty who would like to save a personal copy of a Panopto video can download their video as an MP4 file. We do not recommend uploading this file to Canvas because a large video file, such as an MP4, can cause a strain on the resources of students' devices. To download your Panopto video as an MP4 file,

From the video player

Start playing the video and then click the download button in the upper-right corner of the screen. The Panopto video will download as an .MP4 file.

From the Settings window

If you have multiple streams in your Panopto video (e.g. a Speaker and a Shared Screen), you can download your Panopto in different layouts. To do so

Open the Settings window

Locate your videos in Panopto and click the Gear in the video list or in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. The settings window will appear.

Download the desired Podcast

Click Outputs [1].
Optional. Change the type of outputted MP4 from the drop-menu under the Podcast Preview. [2] Note: doing so will cause the session to re-process, and the download will be available afterward.
Click Download Podcast [3].
If the downloaded file is too large to send through email, send the direct link to the MP4 by following in the instructions in the article, Obtaining the direct link to a Panopto MP4
